I have been an avid Stephenie Meyer fan since I read her first novel "Twilight." I was however disappointed with her last installment into the Twilight series. "Eclipse" is a lot more 'edgy' (as they say in the literary field) with Bella and Edward making out on a more intense level and talking about having sex. I now will not introduce this series to my own daughters until they’re at least 16 or 17 years old and we can have a conversation about the sexual aspects of book three.
On a more irritating level, Bella seems to have Borderline personality disorder along with having an extremely co-dependant relationship with Edward. For those of you who don’t work in the social work field, that translates into meaning that Bella should probably be on medication to help her regulate her emotions, and her relationship with Edward is VERY unhealthy.
I was also disappointed with the Bella-Jacob relationship. A lot about the relationship was not believable for me. I kept thinking, “Is Bella really this dumb and does she have no self-awareness at all?” There is a scene where Edward and Jacob have a conversation about Bella while she’s supposedly asleep and thinking that she’s dreaming… whatever, that would not happen.
I intend on reading book four of the series to see what happens with Bella, Edward, and Jacob but I probably won’t purchase it before reading it. However, I do hope that Meyer will do a better job writing the fourth book and that the series will be able to be saved by it.

Britt you said it all so much better than I could have. I too was dissappointed in this book. I honestly don't see what Edward loves about Bella so much. I keep thinking that once she is a vampire with him will he still feel that pull toward her? Or will it all end because he isn't attracted to the smell of her blood? Silly silly girl.
I agree with you. It is the most unhealthy relationship I have ever cheered for. Although, I am starting to hope that Edward will just kill her already. I can't believe 12 year olds read this stuff. They have an interesting life ahead of them if this book is their example for "love". Now, if they want an example of "lust", then they have the perfect book. Of course, I'll read the rest of the books.
