The Last Olympian by
Rick RiordanBritt's Review
Rating: 5 of 5 stars
The evil Kronos and his leagues of monsters are overtaking New York City and the only thing that stands between him and overthrowing the Olympian Gods is Percy Jackson and his band of ruffian fighters.
Tears that this series is now over, shouts for joy that Riordan is going to continue telling us stories about Camp Half Blood and the Demigods. I couldn’t be happier about how Percy’s story has come to an end in 'The Last Olympian'. Adventure, betrayal, romance, and humor: this book has it all.
The thing that struck me the most about 'The Last Olympian' was its message of how important the family is; and not just the family in general, but loyalty to and forgiveness of family members. So few authors in today’s ‘edgy’ market fail to put this kind of positive and important message in their books, Riordan has done it brilliantly. Read, read, read this series. Like the Harry Potter books, as Percy gets older, his battles get darker. May not be appropriate for younger readers, but 12 year old boys are going to love it!

Meet Daniel and Brittany
The challenge that began with "Have a nice life, Daniel Burton" is progressing with favorable results. Surviving and thriving on lively discussions about books, Abby, or the post-grad school world, the Burtons show signs of excellent health and familial success.
Dan and Britt met on a hot July 4th in 2005. Shortly after inviting her to join him for a panoramic view of the Independence Day fireworks, and not long after her denial, Daniel and Britt agreed to break the ice over ice cream. They soon realized that they were both book geeks, decided a permanent union was worth evaluating, and were married just over a year later on another beautiful July day.
After graduating with a law degree from both he and Brittany's alma mater's rival, Daniel is corporate counsel at the Woodbury Corporation, a commercial real estate management and development company in Salt Lake City. Meanwhile, and far more interestingly, Brittany is raising a new generation of Burtons as full-time mother and family creative director. Abby is two and a half, and #2 is on the way, with arrival expected in late June of 2011. The Burtons look forward to many years of exploring canyons, creeks, and mountain tops, swapping novels, notes, and ideas, and enjoying great discussions about people, politics, and their family.
Daniel and Brittany are both graduates of the 2002 class of Brigham Young University. Abby is gunning to graduate from diapers, sooner than later.

I read this review that you did and told my husband that he should try it out. He is an audiobook fiend (I know, a traitor to the true greatness of turning pages and imagination, but he's addicted.) so he downloaded all 5. He says he really likes the story but the narrator drives him crazy and is taking away from the plot with all his attempts at weird voices. I think I will try them the old fashioned way and see if I like it. Thanks for the tip!
Just finished the Battle of the Labyrinth based on you guys recommendations... Thought it was this one. Not really as much fun to jump into the middle of a series but a good story for BOT (I agree with note above) but will be fun all to grandkids when they "are older".
Thanks for your influence on our families reading habits.
