I continue to be mystified about why the likes of Martha Stewart and Paula Deen use the KitchenAid. KitchenAid's marketing department must be paying them millions of dollars every year. I give credit to the KitchenAid market department. They're brilliant. They're brilliant to have made such a horrible product so widely popular!
This week I made brownies at my mother's house. In the midst of my pregnancy heaviness I decided to forgo a trip down the stairs to the storage room to get the Bosch mixer and decided instead to use my mom's KitchenAid which sits on her kitchen counter. Big Mistake!! I was reminded within about two minutes of using it why I despise the appliance so much. Truly, I hate it. Compared with being able to add ingredients to the Bosch mixing bowl, in my opinion, the KitchenAid gets an F. I also find that the contents at bottom of the mixing bowl never get fully mixed up so you have to get your spatula and clean the sides of the bowl after you've added every ingredient. It is extremely difficult to spatula your way around the big mixing arm that covers the greater part of the KitchenAid mixing bowl.
I absolutely love my Bosch Mixer. You can see into the entire mixing bowl and it's extremely easy to add ingredients to it. The Bosch mixing bowl is much bigger than the KitchenAid mixing bowl. I love the momentary pulse feature that allows you to start mixing ingredients without turning the mixer completely on. The Bosch has tons of power and I never have to worry about the ingredients at the bottom of the bowl not getting mixed up. I also love my Bosch cookie mixer attachments. This attachment allows me to not have to change my attachments halfway through making cookies when the batter becomes more firm and would ruin your whisk attachments if you left them on.
The one thing I give the KitchenAid mixer a better grade on than the Bosch, is in appearance. The KitchenAid is sleek, it's contemporary looking, it comes in fun colors, and it truly does look cute sitting on your kitchen counter. This however, is where it's goodness ends.

I'm interested in hearing from you KitchenAid people. Why do you like your KitchenAid? And... have you ever used a Bosch? Is there anyone out there who has used both and likes the KitchenAid better than the Bosch? - That would be amazing to me.
If you're in the market for a new mixer, PLEASE call me before you go buy a KitchenAid! I'm more than happy to have you come over and play with the Bosch. We can have make bread or brownies day. If you need further convincing, we'll get my mom's KitchenAid and directly compare. I will convert you in a matter of minutes.

Amen!!! I love my bosch also, though I have never used a kitchenaid. Do you have a dough bowl? It is great for big batches of bread because it has extra space because the attachments hook to the bottom of the bowl. If not you should check them out at their website. Though I found mine on ebay so I didn't pay full price.
Hi! I just checked in and HAD to concur with you--let's just say I sold my Kitchenaid at a garage sale so I could buy a Bosch--well worth the sacrifice in getting nothing for my Kitchenaid and spending a lot on the Bosch, but I agree with every point you made. Convert, convert! :)
I LOVE my Bosch - Enoch bought it for me last year for Christmas and I have often wondered why it is so many people in the food industry use KitchenAids - I think everyone on the Food Network has one - It's a conspiracy!
Glad for the post; I was actually considering getting a kitchenaid mixer within the next few months (have wanted one for years). I have heard about the Bosch mixers a little bit but didn't know much about them. Now I think you've changed my mind. I'll have to come use yours before I buy one....how much are they?
P.S. Barefoot Contessa uses KitchAid as well....and has commented on her show how the stuff at the botttom never gets mixed.
I love my KitchenAid. Then again, we've always been a KitchenAid family.
They last forever. I never worry about the motor. KitchenAid comes with all the same attachments. for my purposes, the KitchenAid works great. Although I've never used or even seen a Bosch mixer. For my industrial kitchen stuff (we're getting closer to opening the bakery!), everything I use is Hobart.
To your investigative credit, it's true about the stuff at the bottom not getting mixed. It doesn't matter for cake batters cause you should always scrape down the sides of your bowl with cake batters, no matter the mixer. But with cookies and heavies doughs, it is annoying to have oatmeal or chocolate chip remnants left at the bottom. I guess I've just always overlooked that.
Welp, that's my super long response.
Thank you for your honesty and insight. I have neither a Kitchen Aid, nor a Bosch. I've recently been guilting Nick about my impoverished state of homemakerhood and we've both been allured by a snazzy red K.A. Think maybe we could spray paint a Bosch? Hmm . . either way, thank you for saving my dollars and counter from catastrophe!
