Up at 4:30 AM, and in bed around 2 A.M., it was a 22 hour day.
In our first foray into triathlon competitions, We both joined a ward group in participating in the Echo Reservoir Triathlon in Coalsville. Before you become too impressed with us, let me note that we were on teams and each doing only the running portion of the triathlon. Yes, we did it in a relay.
At just over three miles, or a 5k, the dirt trail was not a difficult obstacle and running against a group of individuals who were for the most part competing in the whole race (swim, bike, and run) was a great ego boost. I've never passed so many other runners in my life. :-)And that was only by nine AM. By noon we were back home and on our way to a wedding reception at Franklin-Covey field. Jason, an old Holladay 29th Ward friend, is among the last of our gen to wed, and made the day worth it by hosting a BBQ in the back of right field. Leaving on our way to catch a showing of "Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix," which posted an amazing $330 million in ticket sales in the last week, my faithful Honda received a beating from flatiamous curse (I swear I saw a dark wizard scoot by my car just a few minutes earlier...I tell you, the Dark Lord has returned), and my tire was flat as we tried to get off the 201 and turn south on Bangerter.
Fortunately, Daniel, in addition to being useful around the house, is also useful around the car, or
The movie was hosted by Merit Medical for their 20th anniversary (Britt's dad runs HR, there). After, we hopped down to Thanksgiving Pointe for a "Festival" in the medieval theme to celebrate with the rest of Merit, enjoying bbqed turkey and chicken drumsticks that stuck to your hands, fingers and face, cotton candy that dissolves on contact with your tongue, and a fireworks display.
And then the trek home. It took us a long time at 40 mph. That's all I will say. Because a broom, or a bewitched jalopy, or a kestrel would have been faster.

I agree a broom would have been faster. Wow what a day!!! But I think I would more enjoy a day like the one you describe then working long hours and getting more sleep. I always enjoy your naratives, I will have to work on making mine more creative.
I too love days that are busy with activity. I will pass on the flat tire thing though - ever thought of AAA?
Love the pics of you two running - Dan I see the wind blowing your hair...time for another cut?
AAA is for girly-men...
