Today Britt and I find ourselves on the slopes of Guardsman's Pass in Midway, Utah. We're here with the Bowen's Britt's family, at place called the "Zermott," a resort of sorts.
We're taking it pretty slow. We sat out next to the pool for a couple hours, until it got too hot, and the kids went inside. And we never really got in the sun, anyway. Daniel tucked himself under the umbrella, and Britt kept moving her chair to stay out the sun, too.
While Dan has wandered between reading a book on the battle of Trafalgar and watching Wimbledon, Britt has been buried in "A Thousand Splendid Suns." Occasionally, she says "Oh, my word!" And then a few seconds later "No!" Apparently she's liking it. All that she will tell Daniel is that the book is good writing. Stay tuned for a book review from her, soon. She's approaching the end, now.
Besides Wimbledon, Daniel's also enjoying a Cleveland v. Detroit baseball game. ESPN is showing the game, and Daniel is a little perturbed that the channel keeps showing clips of the hot dog eating contest. Yes, that's what i said. Apparently, the number 1 seed of hot dog eating, from Japan, was challenged by the number 2 seed, an American...and the American won, eating something like 66 hot dogs. The Japanese guy vomited at the end. Sick.
Its hot outside, but cool inside, and we're enjoying our books. Hope your Fourth is great.

Meet Daniel and Brittany
The challenge that began with "Have a nice life, Daniel Burton" is progressing with favorable results. Surviving and thriving on lively discussions about books, Abby, or the post-grad school world, the Burtons show signs of excellent health and familial success.
Dan and Britt met on a hot July 4th in 2005. Shortly after inviting her to join him for a panoramic view of the Independence Day fireworks, and not long after her denial, Daniel and Britt agreed to break the ice over ice cream. They soon realized that they were both book geeks, decided a permanent union was worth evaluating, and were married just over a year later on another beautiful July day.
After graduating with a law degree from both he and Brittany's alma mater's rival, Daniel is corporate counsel at the Woodbury Corporation, a commercial real estate management and development company in Salt Lake City. Meanwhile, and far more interestingly, Brittany is raising a new generation of Burtons as full-time mother and family creative director. Abby is two and a half, and #2 is on the way, with arrival expected in late June of 2011. The Burtons look forward to many years of exploring canyons, creeks, and mountain tops, swapping novels, notes, and ideas, and enjoying great discussions about people, politics, and their family.
Daniel and Brittany are both graduates of the 2002 class of Brigham Young University. Abby is gunning to graduate from diapers, sooner than later.

Is Brit's book a sequal to his first book "The Kite Runner" I bought that one for Zac for his B-day.
